Product Description
White amorphous powder, odorless and tasteless. Soluble in dimethylacetamide or concentrated acid containing 8% lithium chloride; insoluble in water, dilute acid, alkali, ethanol or other organic solvents.
In nature, chitin widely exists in the shells of crustaceans such as fungi, shrimps, crabs, insects, and cell walls of higher plants. It is a linear polymer polysaccharide, that is, natural neutral polysaccharide. If the acetyl is removed by strong alkali treatment, chitosan can be obtained. Chitin is chemically inactive, does not change with body fluids, does not cause foreign body reaction to tissues, non-toxic, with anti-thrombotic, high-temperature disinfection and other characteristics. Chitosan is an alkaline polysaccharide, which has the effect of stopping acid and anti-inflammatory, and lowers cholesterol and blood fat.
What is Chitin Used for
Chitin is widely used, for example: (1) chromatographic carriers (2) environmental protection: chitosan and its derivatives have good chelating ability to many metals, especially some harmful metals which may cause serious environmental pollution, such as mercury, cadmium, copper, nickel, chromium, etc., so it has a bright future in water purification, sewage treatment and so on. . (3) Purification of radioactive contamination: Many radioactive contamination is caused by derivatives of radioactive transition elements, which can be removed by using chitosan. (4) comprehensive utilization of ores: it is an effective collector for zirconium, niobium and rubidium. (5) application of glass fiber finishing agent (6) dye industry: chitosan can be made into polymer dyes. (7) Additives for the paper industry (8) Finishing agents for other fabrics (9) Photographic industrial materials: Polaroid, which is rapidly developing in the world, uses wear-resistant and photosensitive chitosan. (10) Medical and surgical supplies: glucosamine, a hydrolysate of chitin, is used in the treatment of enteritis, colon ulcers and pneumonia. D- aminoglycan or N- acetylglucosamine are effective as chemotherapeutic agents for some tumors. Chitin has a certain role in assisting bacteriostasis. It can also be used as anticoagulant, wound healing agent and so on. Surgical Sutures, artificial skin and wound dressings, artificial blood and hemostatic sponges, contact lenses and drug carriers were made from chitin, and the results were satisfactory. Other uses include adhesives, fillers for cigarette paper, leather finishing agents, flocculants, etc. In addition, enzyme immobilization, seasoning and beverages, daily chemicals have attracted wide attention.
